Breadmakers

Hi all,
I've just bought a DeLonghi breadmaker and am a total novice at breadmaking but am itching to make a start but I'm confused. In the booklet that comes with it it does contain receipes and I want to start with a basic white loaf but don't understand about the paddles. Obviously all the ingredients need to be mixed by these paddles but there is no mention of them being taken out but surely they don't stay in to have the bread being made around them? The basic white has its own programme which is a touch of a button but it says nothing about having to go back to the breadmaker once you've put the ingredients in and switching it on. I'm sorry if this sounds stupid, or happy if I've made you laugh but can someone help me quickly. Thanks. Sue

The paddles get left in.

The paddles stay in. I've got a Panasonic and the made loaf will have a small round hole on the bottom and "slice marks" where the paddles were. Not particularly noticeable on my machine, but I don't know about other makes.

but isn't there then 2 big holes in the bottom of the bread?

yes you get the holes. You can make the dough in the breadmaker and bake in the oven if you don't want holes though.
