Breakfast Ideas for 18mth old

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what they give to their children for breakfast. I don't want to give ds the majority of cereals on offer due to the high sugar content and low vitamin content. At the moment we alternate between Weetabix, Apricot Bites (those little shredded wheats filled with Apricots), scrambled eggs and spaghetti hoops, porridge (in winter)

As you can see I'm not too hung up on it being natural, organic and no sugar. Ideally I want some healthy options that are obviously quick and easy.

Thanks.

We have muller rice here too in very yummy flavours but I was put off by a friend who once told me how they make the red sauce in the Strawberry ones.

How do they make the red sauce Meanmum? I was just thinking what a good idea MullerRice.

My DD (17m) has shreddies at the moment as she has gone off weetabix (and it is messy when thrown). She usually has a cup or even two of milk (at the moment - not expecting it to last). Then usually some toast with marmite or jam and/or banana or kiwi. She will also have whatever I'm having, out my bowl (usually some kind of muesli). She will apparently have a fry up at Nanny's, but not at home.
I used to make up batches of porridge when I was weaning her (I froze it in ice cube trays, it was fine but went rather stodgy). I used to use soya milk as she was still quite young. She liked it served with stewed fresh or dried fruit. Now I wouldn't bother - I make it fresh (we'll all have some) or use ReadyBrek!

Hi,
My triplets are ALL fussy eaters, all liking different things. Two of them won`t eat eggs, but I remembered I used to make for Matthew "eggy bread" and they all go mad for it! Mix an egg and a little milk together like you would for scrambled egg, soak a slice of bread in it, turning both sides. Fry in a little oil until golden, serve with bacon, or anything you like, or just tomato sauce!

pancakes (bought scotch pancakes when I'm not up to making fresh or waffels) with fruit or syrup go down well with ds (15 months)

OK so you all seem to serve Weetabix how come my dd hates the stuff however its disguised, she won't eat anything else either unless its banana followed by banana followed by raisins (usually to throw around the kitchen and for me to tread in) I've tried everything apart from Guava Lucy 123 very impressed you have that in your fridge!

Eggy bread! Brilliant idea. Will try ds on it tomorrow. Thanks. How are those triplets?

meanmum · 05/06/2003 22:15

Yes. How are the triplets? I read one of your threads and always want to know how they are going and how you are coping.

In answer to the question about the red stuff in mullerrice it's apparently made from bugs. I asked him not to tell me but he did and then I had to leave the room at the thought of it so didn't press him any further. Let's hope he was just pulling my leg.
