my DD is almost 12 months old. I don't know if it is due to the hot weather, but she is refusing to eat anything and has done so for the last two days. Today she has had a tiny amount of toast for breakfast, banana mid morning and nothing else! She is still breastfeeding early morning and evening, but used to eat well during the day. Any suggestions mumsnet friends?

My dd has just had 2 days of teh same..I think maybe she wasn't quite well, or maybe teeth (as she just got a new one earlier this week). Today she ate breakfast much better. SB's right, she won't starve herself but it is really hard not to worry isn't it. I ended up giving her so many little bits of things (vegies friuit, crackers, ricecakes, biscuits - pretty much anything!) and she maybe had a little taste or each - which made me feel like at least she'd had a little. As long as your dd doesn't have any other signs of illness and is drinking fine try not to worry - go with the flow.

My dd does this every time she teethes, for about 7 to 10 days before tooth appears. I used to really worry that the only things she wanted were not "good" food, but now I just let her have whatever she will eat. Today she has lived on jam sandwiches, skips and fromage frais! Completely rejected my home made fish pie, meatballs and all things she usually loves. Has drunk loads of liquid though, so maybe she's just too hot.

Thanks everyone, I think she may be teething again. Sunday she was the same - little bits and pieces, mainly 'comfort food' but she has eaten a decent breakfast this morning. I wish I could get her to eat 'good food' like meat, fish and veg -she usually eats everything offered to her.

hi, our 19 month old son is intolerent of lactose and has become a very picky eater . Although he will give most foods a try he will only eat about 6 to 10 mouthfulls in a meal. He has never been a big eater , even when he was bottle fed he would only ever manage 5 oz. He did drop several pertentiles but has started to pick up as he is no longer sick several times a day. We have tried everything and are getting desparate, this also effects his sleep as he still doesnt sleep all night. can you help us?

my son ,now 4,is also lactose intolerent and everything you have described sounds like him.all i can reccomend is giving little but often, sorry if you have tried this, but its just that and perseverence.my son now eats a wide range of food, but in comparison to his friends ,small portions.looking at photos of him thro' the years he looks healthier each year,as like your son he was v underweight,he also hasd a terrible skin tone and thin dry hair, now he is v healthy.he also developed an intolerence to gluten and then soya so i know it can be hard, but just keep on going.
