Giant muffin recipe

I'm making a cake for tea for my son's 5th birthday on sunday.
I've chosen to use an apple muffin recipe (my Grandma can't eat chocolate ) and make it as one big cake, for something different, I wondered if the cooking time would be the same? or longer?
Also if I make it today, will it last 'til Sun?
Any other recipe suggestions welcome.
Thanks again (in anticipation) for your help and advice.

cooking time will be longer and 20ºC cooler

will probably be ok till sun but make sure it;s in an airtight tin else it'll dry out.

personally I am lazy and would do a Victoria sponge because I can make one in my sleep

Thank you.
I could do ordinary sponge too but I thought I'd spice it up a bit.
I've got gas is that just 1 mark lower?

I meant to add -
when I keep my cakes in a container they always go sticky.
Would it last wrapped in foil?

yeah, one gas mark lower

and it's meant to be sticky!

It was very nice, thanks for your help.
Can you freeze normal sized/mini muffins?

What tin/case did you use to make it so big?

Trinaj · 23/11/2009 21:23

I just used normal muffin recipe (makes about 12) and put it in a regular round cake tin.
Mine is about 8 in and a smaller one (about 6 in) would have been better as it didn't rise very high to look like a muffin, but it tasted good.
