So, I was watching that C4 Dispatches programmme last night about all the salt and sugar in breakfast cereals and it made me wonder what people give their DCs for breakfast...

My DD has always had porridge, and I thought that was pretty standard, but talking to various friends, it appears that we are quite unusual.

ds1 - honey nut conflakes nine times out of ten but can occcasionally be convinced to have porridge and honey

dd - honey nut cornflakes, rice krispies, oatabix or oat cereal with raisans, she loves porrige but i only make it if they'll both eat it.

ds2 - toast or cereal or porrige (8 months old)

I am not in a panic about salt and sugar.

Bread and jam contain salt and sugar too.

Porridge too, if you want to make it edible.

A boiled egg contains (some) cholesterol. And is only nice with a pinch of salt.

even ryevita crackers contain loads of salt.

Cheese or ham contain salt and fat...

Shock shock horror horror

What next, food police?! we have had the crack down on fat and cholesterol. On meat. On salt and sugar. On carbs. We should really only eat steamed veg, I guess.

Maybe we should have our food intake monitored by the government.

Dry weetabix jujubean? Seriously? Boy.

DD has yoghourt and milk before school; occasionally she has bread and butter instead of the yoghourt. On non-school days she has bread or a bretzel, fresh from the boulangerie.

Peanut butter & vegemite on wm toast(because they like it)

Omega3 fish oil capsules (because I tell them to)

Trifle for breakfast on boxing day (because it's a family tradition)

Sugar free peanut butter on toast, a Munch Bunch Drinky Plus and apple juice. Mixture of what she likes and what I think is good for her! Would happily let her have sugary cereal now and again as treat but she won't even try it! Fussy oik!
