Ideas on what to give my 20 month old.

Getting a bit bored with the same old thing and I'm running out of ideas.

What do you give your children? Do you have a weekly meal planner? If you do have a meal planner do you do this week in week out?

I'm desperate for help as dd is not eating well atm and I'm sure it's because she's bored of the same old thing and lack of consistency with her meals.

Thanks

Ok so I have..

Poached salmon with ???
Special fried rice
Pasta with pesto and cheese
Meatballs with ???
Bagels with cream cheese
Possibly Tuna sandwiches (will give it another go)

Anymore ideas? These are a great help.

What about Pate?

Is that a no go. I always thought it had a high salt content.

poached salmon with potatoes (mash?) and veg
Meatballs with potatoes/chips/pasta and tomato sauce

Some more

Cheese and ham on toast
jacket potato with fillings (chicken and sweetcorn, tuna(?) beans and cheese, ham and cheese)
Cous cous (very quick) with pesto/pasta sauce and veg
Has someone said macaronni cheese?

Have never given ds pate tbh, always thought it was a bit scary and salty!

my dd is similar, evening meals not too bad will eat anything with mash, pasta and pesto is afavourite here aswell and bolognaise. However lunchtime is a nightmare. She won't eat sandwiches doesn't matter what's on them. If she eats crackers she'll lick all the butter off and then eat different ones at different times, never finishing one, so making it difficult to gauge how much she's had. She really just picks at lunch, won't really eat fruit sliced up only cooked with yoghurt or custard. Any ideas for quick lunch meals or any tips on how to get her to eat sandwiches!!!!!

Anchovies, What meatballs do you buy or do you make them?

Knat, DD does eat bits of sandwiches but again she pulls them to bits so it's hard to see what she has/hasn't eaten.
I normally find putting some sauce on her plate encourages her to eat.

I buy the swedish ones mud mentioned, often on buy one get one free. Or make my own with a lump of mince (pork or beef), some chopped coriander and an egg yolk.

Knat, don't know about the sandwiches, I just kept trying with nice bread, no crusts and fillings he likes (in his case egg mayo). Now he'll eat them quite happily, crusts first!

As NBG said something to dip into (usually hummous or mild salsa for us) makes him eat anything as he loves dipping!

Brilliant.

I think I need to do a little shop now!

For my charges each week i try and give them

a fish meal
a 'mince' meal
a chicken meal
a 'other meat' (not minced) meal
a vegetarin meal

with their main meal each week they have AT LEAST 1 serving of pasta / rice and 2 of potatoes... jacket / boiled / mash / new / raost...
may have some 'pastry' thing or duplicate pasta / rice

at the weekend (when im not tehre they always have a roast and whatever else mum gives them)

For lunches they eat twice at school

i do a 'filled 'bread' thing... toasty / bagel / pitta / roll / sandwich
a jacket potatoe with a filling
a something else... often home made pizza, a 'eggy' thing cauliflower cheese etc

ifind that by giving myself a very broad range of things to do they eat a varied and balanced diet

I have a book called 'the dinner lady' it is great and full of wholesome easy to prepare meals (in recipes for 4 adults or for 96 school kids ) would heartily recommend it to extend your repertoire - your child would be able to eat anything in it and could basically share whole family's meal / have leftovers (it is much better than the Jamie Oliver book)
