19 month old only taking milk from a bottle

My 19 month old dd will have juice in a cup with a lid no spout really well but will only take her milk in a bottle. She has milk in the morning on waking and at bedtime. I don't mind the bedtime one being a bottle but this week I tried her morning milk in the same style cup as her juice. The first morning she took a couple of sips and then left it and ever since (for a week) she won't touch it. My initial thought was that she didn't really need it otherwise she would drink it anyway. (She gets a lot of calcium from other dairy products and has approx 8 or 9 oz in an evening). Her solid intake and juice intake didn't really increase at this time to compensate for the lack of milk first thing. However I don't know if it's just coincidence but since missing her morning milk her sleep pattern (day and night) has changed and is shorter in both instances. I've reverted back to the bottle this morning and she drank all 7 oz without stopping! Any ideas?

Leave her be, if it ain't broken don't fix it.

yup. I don't see any problem with that. If she's still insisting on a bottle at 4 then maybe start to worry.

Knat, I am of the belief that it really doesn't matter. My ds still has a bottle of milk at bedtime, and he's 2!

Thanks that's my thought too it's just all the stuff you read says throw away the bottles at 12 months! When do you think the morning milk in general should be dropped and just give a bedtime milk?

Ds is 28months and has breastfeeds morning and night, he has his cereal with water (can't have normal cows milk on it)so that's a factor for us, but I would say when she doesn't want it she will stop drinking it.

My DS still has milk for breakfast - he's 3 and a half and, to my shame, he will not drink it out of anything except an avent beaker with a spout . Not quite a bottle but nearly. I used to really worry about it but now I figure there are more important things. If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it. She won't take the bottle to school with her and that's for sure

We only insisted on a spout from about 2 1/2 up to then if a spout wasn't clean I'd let her have a teat. Gradually as she bit through the teats there were fewer and fewer so it was spout or nothing. Dropped the spouts from about 3 1/4 (she bit through them too!) and she stopped her night time milk soon after - still asks for it in a mug for morning and afternoon snack but it is more of a ritual than nutrition.
