I need 101 things to make with plums!

we went to the PYO farm today. I remember last year telling myself 'next year don't let the children get carried away'. Of course, we went today, were having such a lovely time and when it came to paying, we had 4kg of plums (let alone everything else!)

the farmer was saying I should make plum jam but tbh, once I've bought the jars, got the sugar and got around to it, I might as well have bought a jar of plum jam

so can make an almond and plum cake

is plum ok in a crumble? can you do plum tarts?

or can you freeze them ?

Clafoutis - bloody gorgeous. Bake or grill with a drizzle of honey; lovely with ice cream or mascarpone. Ideas about freezing here. Plum tart also nice.

have all the ingredients for clafoutis! yum! and it's lucky you linked to that freezing thing as i would never have known I had to peel and put them in a solution. Love the idea of bringing them out in winter!

Pickled plums?

Supposed to be nice with cold meat.

I've also done plum crumble before now. The kids loved it, made me feel sick!

mine have eaten no tea because they ate so much of what we picked on the way back

yes, I can see why plum crumble might make you feel that way tbh

will google pickled plums...interesting concept. I wonder if you can make chutney with them (though not sure anyone would eat it!).

I have a feeling I might be sick of the sight of them in ooh about 24 hours lol

plum brandy

1 pint of spirit,
1lb plums (keep them whole but prick them all over with a pin)
8oz sugar. Some like to vary with demerara

Put all ingredients in to a wide mouthed container that can be sealed. ie kilner type jar.
Shake every day for 3 days.
Store in a dark place for 2 months, or longer - test it every few weeks. I keep mine in the garage.

Strain through muslin, bottle , seal and label.

Plum gin - won't be ready until Christmas

1 demijohn
1 bottle of cheap gin
1lb plums
1lb sugar

Combine & put a rubber bung in

Shake every day until the sugar dissolves

Then leave until christmas

Strain & bottle (don't use anything metal)

You WILL enjoy your plums at Christmas
