nah still don't believe it'd feed my brood (excuse the pun ).

I think we may need to take out a 2nd mortgage once the DS's hit teenagehood

We don't spend more than £270 on shopping (all groceries) for a month for 6 of us. I do one big shop from tescos and then we weekly buy fresh fruit, bread etc (veg is grown where we can). Some things we buy in bulk from bookers and meat from the buchers. We also have a milk delivery which is about £30

A normal chicken weighs what? 5-8lb maybe. Ou last one, a smaller one of the lot, weighed 19lbs. Now they are a bit more fatty than normal but my goodness they're huge.

oh help
my six year old eats more than me (and I eat a lot). I've been dreading the food bills but am doing so even more now. Maybe I should make them watch tv all day then they wont eat as much

FAQtothefuture · 01/08/2009 16:20

think current 5yr old eating rate (about 2 times as much as me a day) multiplies that by 5 - oh no - it's even worse than I thought!!!

FAQtothefuture · 01/08/2009 16:20

or even by 3

FAQtothefuture · 01/08/2009 16:21

now they DO sound like fat chickens........you don't live close by do you - I'll pay a good price

faq have you got any outside space? I've decided I'm going to breed my quail again. They're quiet, dont take up much space and only take 6 weeks to reach maturity. Cheap meat

FAQtothefuture · 01/08/2009 16:25

yes I do - but not loads - and the bit of the garden they'd be resigned to probably wouldn't be safe for them........it's the bit where rogue lunch boxes and balls from the infant school the otherside of the wall usually lang - and it's a very high wall so they fall with quite thud ).

(and it's the bit of garden that's been designated as the "patio" area in the making for the last 3yrs.......which is now finlally starting to get to the planning stage).

And actually - I'm not keen on quail - DH likes 'em mind.
