can't you go next door and borrow?

Lilymaid · 21/07/2009 14:26

If you use spread you will (probably) end up with a runny goo. You need real butter (failing that the old fashioned hard margarine would do, but I don't like the taste).

FabBakerGirlIsBack · 21/07/2009 14:28

It will taste vile.

badgermonkey · 21/07/2009 14:29

I only use real butter for mine. Otherwise you get that odd greasy effect.

muddleduck · 21/07/2009 15:06

I use whatever spread we happen to have and I don't think it tastes "vile" or "greasy".

In fact I think it tastes fine (and is much easier to make).

Maybe I have lower standards

LynetteScavo · 21/07/2009 15:07

It will be fine with country life.

LynetteScavo · 21/07/2009 15:08

Unless it's for a cake competition or someone you want to impress coming is to tea.

muddleduck · 21/07/2009 15:21

Glad it is not just me LS

LynetteScavo · 21/07/2009 17:35

So what's the verdict mum2samandalex ?

Fruityjuice · 21/07/2009 17:37

Never use butter as I never buy it (would be Ten Tonne Tesse if I did).
I've been told my butter icing is delicious - usually make chocolate though so perhaps that hides the taste?

Fruityjuice · 21/07/2009 17:39

used olive light last time and it was yummy! Ooooh, I want cake now
