The title says it all! Here I am an almost mother of two and I'm clueless... DS is onto eating almost normal food now, I don't often give him pots and I think he's getting fed up of pasta and steamed vegetables! DH makes his own dinner (microwave curry!) and I end up having a sandwich... I really want to cook for us every night, I could really do with loads of quick, healthy, easy recipes....plllleeeeeease heeeeelp, I feel like a poo mother and wife!!

how about a casserole, nice and simple

SPARKLER1 · 18/05/2005 10:58

I have started making Lasagne quite a lot recently. Admittedly use the jar sauces but so quick and easy.

Buy a good cookery book which tells you not only what to cook but how to.

Hope I am not treading on a sensitive subject here, but why didn't your mother teach you? My mum had me doing the family dinner from time to time when I was a teenager and most of what I do now is similar to what I did then.

If your dh likes currys I can give you some family recipes for simple straight forward chicken curry.....but are you familiar with indian spices ????

fastasleep · 18/05/2005 11:05

I can get Dh to help me with spices, he's good at cooking but is just too stressed from work and constant DIY to even tell me how to do things... I'm sure askng about spices wouldn't quite push him over the edge!

Just dont be scared of cooking. It's very easy to get stuck in an "I can't do it!" frame of mind and then stuff it up when you try because you're convinced you can't do it. I always thought Iwas a cr*p cook but I'm slowly coming round to the idea that maybe I'm not so bad after all

Gwenick · 18/05/2005 11:06

I use savingdinner (do a google first link) menumailer - it's a subscription one from America, but very cheap and most of the ingredients can be found/substitues found here in the UK. Been using it since last July and DH is very impressed

fastasleep · 18/05/2005 11:24

Thanks I'm going to get enough recipes sorted for next week so that I can get a good meal inside them every night! Wish me luck lol... (DH is very picky!) DS will be shocked at the lack of steamed vegetables with grated cheese on lol
