My childmindees love Angel Delight but I'm tring to minimise processed foods.....can anyone make a homemade version of Angel Delight (type pudding)
I do lots of baking, but sometimes cakes, puddings and custard aren't what they want...and I go through several tonnes of yoghurt each week

Any suggestions

There's a jelly thing here which you could adapt by adding evap.

This article on Waitrose.com doesn't seem to thik Angel Delight is too bad; says parents love its goodness!

SueW - have you read the ingredients - I know I'm particularly sensative but

Propane-1,2-diol esters of fatty acids, hydrogenated veg oil

It can't be good - isn't propane a petrochemical? I'm not sure about the others - maybe I'm over reacting?

Read the ingredients? I don't think I've ever picked it up off the shelves/been in a home that has had it!! It certainly wasn't on the menu when I was a child so all I know about it are vague memories of ads as a child!

Sounds about as healthy as a Nesquik 'milkshake' to me!

If you have the ingredients from the back of the packet, can't you re-create it? Wouldn't you be able to make the substitutions? Whatever they list as fat can be substituted by cream (far healthier IMO than hydrog veg oil), then it's prob got skimmed milk powder - well that's just the base for the cream isn't it?

In fact have just googled and found ingredients listed as:

INGREDIENTS: Sugar Hydrogenated vegetable oil Emulsifiers Modified starch Gelling agents, Milk protein, Lactose, Flavourings and Whey powder

Sounds to me like creamy milk, gelatine made up with as little liquid as poss and fresh, poss slightly overripe for extra sweetness, fruit whizzed up like a milkshake and left to set in the fridge would taste way better.

That might just work - Suew

Milk, gelatine and fruit......now I just have to practise to get the proportions right....

Not today tho' - but I'll let you know if I come up with anything
(went to bed last night sorry)

I was up waiting for news of my sister who was in labour. Gve up at 1.40am and went to bed; slept badly. Phone call this morning at 7am - a girl

Congratulation Auntie Suew
