I have decided we eat too many takeaways and cooking curry ourselves would be a much healthier and probably tastier option.

Madhur Jaffrey's ultimate curry bible is really good.

If you want some quick curry recipes, have a look on BBCgoodfood. There are some really tasty recipes there.

Barry Vera's Feast is good too.

This is very good and the recipes really do take only 30 minutes.
Usually I can make a main course, pilau rice and a raita in about 40 minutes.

50 Great Curries = Camellia Panjabi. They're great but you do have to fiddle with the quantities a bit, but the butter chicken and prawn patia are TDF

oh yes, that one's brilliant. I must steal borrow my Mum's copy next time I see her.

I've been using this one for years:
www.amazon.co.uk/Complete-Indian-Cookbook-Mridula-Baljekar/dp/0862838029/ref=sr_1_1?i e=UTF8&s=books&qid=1244971704&sr=1-1
(sorry, I'm crap at links, can never get them to work .

Very, very easy to follow recipes (dh can do them too!) and they freeze well.

There's a chinese version too iirc.
