I've bought a square baking tray thingie and I'm not sure if it's going to live up to the hype.

If you have one what do you use it for?

A mum at school is a rep and goes on all the time about how amazing they are.

Sidge · 24/05/2009 20:56

My friend swears by hers.

I want one but couldn't afford it; I had to settle for a cheese knife

CMOTdibbler · 24/05/2009 20:57

I've got their pizza stone, and it is excellent

FabulousBakerGirl · 24/05/2009 20:58

The wooden spoons and spatulas are good. I also have a pie maker and pastry blender which are good but I am a Lakeland girl through and through.

I love my tray - think it is called a bar pan.

Nothing sticks to it! Waffles, fishfingers (homemade ones!) kievs etc all have breadcrumbs on all sides and slide off quite happily!

Not so sure about the yorkshire muffin pan but havent used it enough yet.

But it feels so horrible - like the unglazed stuff at those pottery painting places and it just makes my skin crawl to touch it.

Does this go with use and gradual 'seasoning'.

I've got loads of this stuff and I use it for taking up room in my kitchen cupboards!

The only thing that gets used is the red handled children's knife (by ds).

Juwesm · 25/05/2009 10:24

The rough feel does go smoother with use. I have a stone which I don't use very much, but had a feel of the ones the rep had and hers was much smoother (snurk)! Just need to make sure you cook lots of fatty stuff like roast chicken, and just clean with the scraper.

Juwesm · 25/05/2009 10:26

Other stuff I've got:

Mandolin - crap
Small bamboo tongs - very useful
Other bamboo utensils - very useful
Set of 6 small glass dishes with lids - very useful.

Probably wouldn't buy any PC stuff again, as I think it is not worth the price and there is better stuff available.

Got pizza stone - fab. Use it all the time for pizza (obviously!), cookies, fish fingers etc
Also got a deep dish baker and mini baker - great for doing roast spuds, roasted veg and lasagne in . They do improve with age and use.

Agree with the cost of them, I got them when I hosted a party otherwise wouldn't have got them. Did get free replacement when one got broken tho'.

I got the deep dish covered baker free hosting a party and I love it for casseroles and dishes like kleftico, etc.

misshardbroom · 25/05/2009 11:48

As the reps say 'the worse it looks, the better it cooks'!

I have a deep dish baker which I've had for about two and a half years. It's nearly black all over and very smooth to the touch, but then it has everything done in it: roast chicken, sausages, roast veg etc.

I really love it and I wouldn't use anything else for a roast now. However, I got it for next to nothing because I hosted a party. Not sure I'd have paid that much money for it otherwise.

I've also got the square baking sheet thing but haven't got on quite so well with it. It's brilliant for things like breaded chicken or fish, but I'm not so keen on it for baked goods. Yesterday I made some scones on it and although they were cooked evenly and rose beautifully [Smuggy McSmug emoticon, please MNHQ], the bottoms of them didn't crisp up as I would have liked. Happens all the time.

And I have the 6 hole muffin pan and try as I might, it's not developing the same shiny black/brown patina that my big dish has because it doesn't get the same frequent use or exposure to fats and juices. So I don't know that I'd bother buying that again either.

Smuggy-With the baking sheets/pizza rounds it helps to pre-heat them in the oven.
