Crunchy cornflake recipe which doesn't involve chocolate - do you know of one?

DD1 tells me that sometimes at school they get crunchy cornflakes in golden syrup for pudding. She wants to make them at home but all my recipe books mention cornflakes, golden syrup and chocolate ... do any of you know what she's talking about and if there's a recipe floating around for it?!

TIA.

my mum does rice krispies in golden syrup
they are scrummy
hold on...

SlartyBartFast - that's what I wondered but knowing me, I'd have a go and the chocolate would be the vital ingredient and without it I'd be left with non-solidifing (sorry, can't be bothered to check the spelling of that!) sticky gook!

ChasingSquirrels - I'm holding on ...

melt 2 oz of butter with 2 oz of sugar, add 2 oz of syrup and boil for a minute. Stir in 2 oz (or a bit more if it takes it) of rice crispies

Thank you - that sounds easy. Presume that works with cornflakes too. Do I need to stick them in the fridge to harden off once cool, or will they just do that anyway?

presume so, always have with rice krispies.
stick in the fridge.
the boiling is important - otherwise they stay gloopy.

That sounds yummy, ChasingSquirrels.

Now, I have sugar, I have butter, I have syrup and I have cornflakes ......

DH used to make rice-crispy cakes like those chewy squares by melting equal quantities of toffee and marshmallow together. Can't vouch for how successful this is though!

Brilliant, thanks. Will try out sometime this week.
