Our 17 month old daughter will not eat much of a variety

Our daughter will eat diced cheese,/spam.
If she tries anything that has a fibre ie; ham, bacon she chews it and spits it out.
She will only eat pureed foods, ie; our roasts we eat, sometimes scrambled egg.
We see all these wonderfull menus on here and it just ends up on the floor!
It seems anything with any lumps in itand she spits out!
She has most of her front teeth now.
Will this change in time?

Ye..es, but it can take time and it isn't any use getting stressed about it because it just makes things worse.

My 18-month-old has no less than 14 beautiful teeth and refuses to chew a thing.
If he ate diced cheese and spam I would be celebrating.

But, as I proffer the latest bowl of unrecognisable mush I comfort myself that at least this one eats.

His older sister just wouldn't do food in any form and lived on milk and the odd mouthful I managed to cajole into her.

She is a very healthy 10-year-old now. Still picky, but I can get a balanced (and solid) diet into her.

Hi Jonesy

Not much advice other than I expect it will change with time. I also have a 17 month DD and she can be fussy sometimes. She wont touch meat. She'll pick it up, touch it with the tip of her tongue and then say "eeeuuurrck" and hand it to me saying "no!" lol.

Most of the time she will want her dinner in small pieces. i've always given her big chunks of stuff (we did BLW) so i dont know why she is being lazy about biting into things at the moment. Having said that, she will bite into a whole huuuuge strawberry with no problem at all and will even sit there munching on a whole apple too!

What I'm trying to say is that i think they just go through phases of liking stuff and liking how it's prepared etc. Today she could love pasta but tomorrow it'll be on the floor or in her hair - anywhere other than in her tummy!

The only thing i would say to do would be to just give her what you know she will eat and then try her on one new thing every day or two and see what happens? Perhaps you could gradually introduce new foods to her this way, or even re-introduce foods that she's previously eaten too. It seems to work for my DD!

I've just re-read your OP and notice that you say she only eats purees? Could you not try her on a slice of toast with lots of butter or even some cheese on toast? If she wont eat solids properly, perhaps take it back to basics with her and give her what you gave her when you started to introduce "lumps" or "proper" food when she was younger?

Good luck!
