Thank you JoeJoe, I am educated now! I knew smoked salmon didn't last very well but gravadlax seems to last better. The curing must do summat to the fat.

What's the longest anything's been in my freezer? Can't be longer than 14 months as I moved in February last year. Not very smug but scarred by a mother with a chest freezer and no idea of stock rotation. Some of the finds from freezer mining were not tasty .

Like the idea of "freezer mining"!

Hard Hat - check
goggles - check
headtorch - check
ice-axe - check
canary - check

Meltedmarsbars, you have clearly met my mum!

what if you freeze a ready meal-such as sphagetti bolognaise-that says eat within one month of freezing-would that be ok?

JoeJoe1977 · 08/05/2009 14:08

I don't know, I imagine would depend on the individual ready meal and how it was made up in the factory, some are made up of uncooked ingredients and some are already cooked, have got a friend who is a manager in one of the factories that supply M&S with their ready meals. Will ask him next week if I remember.

If you make bolognaise yourself then that will be fine in the freezer until whenever you find it again on a mining expedition! [emoticon with miners helmet and pickaxe]

ThingOne - the canary has no chance in a freezer!!!
