Tell me about your slow cooker lids

Do they fit tight or not?

Mine is a glass one with a metal rim and if I look at the right angle I can see a gap between the lid and the crockpot so there's no seal. Is that right?

I've just checked mine, I have two, both glass with metal rims although I can't see any gaps.
They both work fine though, in fact I made bol for lasangne in one of them yesterday. Have you tried yours yet?

Yes I use it fairly regularly but I tend to be about when it's on and top up the fluid as I need to.

I'm going back to work in a few weeks and will be leaving it on all day while I'm out so won't be able to do this which is why I was wondering if some lids fit tighter so that the steam doesn't escape.

I guess I'll just add a bit more fluid at the start and keep my fingers crossed.

Mine is glass with a metal rim it fits but it's not a sealed fit - but it has worked well for 3 years so far.

I shalln't worry or buy a new one then! Will just add a bit extra fluid when I'm leaving it unattended.

Mine is not a sealed fit either. It sometimes rattles a little bit when the contents are very hot but I think its meant to be like this. Works fine. I think if it was a sealed fit it would explode!

Yes IWIWMO, I'd just add a bit extra liquid and perhaps try it with something cooked on low the first time you are out all day.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 06/05/2009 10:51

I only ever cook on low in it

What do you need to cook on high?

Ok, it really is that simple!

I tend to leave things on all day which is probably why low has been working perfectly!
