You don't need a utensil. Crack the egg open - keep pouring egg from eggshell to eggshell, letting the egg white drip into a bolw. Or crack egg into a bowl and lift yolk out with your clean hand.

break the egg in your hand and let the white dribble through

Or.......... put it on a saucer, put an egg cup over the yolk and pour the white into a bowl.

thanks i will give that a go, only have 2 eggs left, i bet the bloody yolk breaks both times.
i am very wacky handed.

I do this by cracking the egg open and out on a plate (careful not to break the yolk), then cover the yolk with one half of the eggshell (again make sure you don't break the yolk, but cover it completely) make sure the shell is touching the plate, and tip the egg white out onto a bowl, the egg yolk will be held back by the shell.

I break the egg and let it pour through my (clean!) fingers like nailpolish - it's by far the most efficient way to do it

Heathcliffscathy · 30/04/2005 20:46

i really really think that nailpolish's do it in your hand is the easiest and most failproof way....hold the yolk, the white will come away and dribble thro your fingers...

tiffini · 30/04/2005 20:48

that confused me, i was wondering for a minute why you pour nailpolish through your fingers, LOL

LOL....

am still blushing at my "let the white dribble through" sounded rude! lol

By hand definately works best - my sister has worked as a pastry chef, and recommended this way. It's very very easy, and quick, too.
