I've posted on this before, but received no replies, not one [sob].

Does anyone make, or know a recipe for, any sort of bean-based dip that does not require garlic?

I'm a big houmous maker, but it's not the most sociable thing to put in a lunchbox, and I don't want dd or dh becoming social pariahs.

You could try making it without the garlic, or with just a tiny bit.

How about Tzatziki?

Or this Aubergine and Red Pepper dip and leave out the garlic?

Sorry you didn't get any replies before!

Ok, for the humous, you can just leave out the garlic when you make it, altohugh with so many people eating garlic regularly these days I don't think it's as anti-social as people are used to the smell and don't smell it. Cooked garlic doesn't leave as strong an after-odour as raw garlic so you could roast the cloves before adding them too.

Don't forget mushy peas are basically a bean dip (or certainly can be) and with the addition of a little ground pepper, olive oil and a sprinkling of cumin can be turned into a very tasty dip or wrap filler.

Moroccan Foul Recipe just leave out the garlic

Black Bean Dip again, just leave out the garlic clove, it will still taste good.

I like kidney beans mushed up with cream cheese, chillies, salt and pepper and paprika and cumin too, or instead of the spices just a handful of chopped coriander.

Sauteed onions mushed in with any beans also work as a good base for making tasty dips.

this is a good alternative to bean dips, although no good for school packed lunches as it's peanut based. DS loves it though and it's very nutritious.

I make a kind of mushy dip with mung beans.

You soak them then fry up onion, root ginger and garlic (but you could leave this out if you want), add the beans and then add some water. Cook for half an hour until the water is absorbed and the beans are mushy.
