my dp bought some of the alpro soya desserts to give to our ds as a dessert for a change from fruit puree. he is lactose intolerant so cannot have fromage frais or other milk products. does anyone know if these are ok for a baby to try???

thanks

well, check the ingredients, but yes, I believe they are milk/lactose free

they have a lot of ingredients in

Water, Hulled organic soya beans (7.8%), Organic raw cane sugar, Organic fruits (6.8%) (Peach and Mango in varying proportions), Organic rice syrup, Organic maize starch, Stabilisers: Locust bean gum, Pectin and Agar, Organic beetroot juice, Natural flavouring, Sea salt, Acidity regulator: Citric acid, Selected cultures: S.thermophilus, L.bulgaricus

plus the sugar content - i would not give them personally - babies really don't need yogurt - they are having milk of some sort anyway

Hi - my DD is dairy/egg allergic and we use these, but as FaZ says, they are pretty sweet (as are the ready made fruit soya yogurts). We didn't start giving them to DD until she was a lot older (about 18 months), when we knew it wouldn't affect her appetite too much (anything too sweet earlier than that would put her right off eating her next meal, so I would steer clear of sugary things whilst you're still at the weaning stage). You can buy big pots of plain soya yogurt and mix some fruit or fruit puree in (or give to her plain!) - probably a lot healthier....
