Jerk seasoning - is it a paste or powder?

I am going to make Jerk chicken sandwiches. The recipe says to rub the seasoning into all over the chicken breasts. Sainsburys online only has a jar of dry seasoning. Will this work or would I be better off finding a paste (if indeed this exists)? All enlightenment about jerk seasoning welcome .

Powder

rub it in dry on to moist meat (iyswim)

there are dry powders for sale i do not like them. i prefer to make a paste, with onions chilli allspice etc it tenderises the meat as well as flavours it.

but i wouldn't bother with that for a couple of breasts for sandwich.

Paste. They key spice is allspice if you want to make it yourself (garlic, onion, chili also). You can find Walkerswood jerk paste in Sainsburys, possibly in the speciality food aisle.

I wouldn't buy the Schwartz/Knorr jerk powder.

I used to crave the Dunns River paste from the supermarket, slaver the chicken in it and bake. Then eat with salad and 15 pints of water to cool me down!! God I miss it...
