Anyone noticed Lidl is getting more expensive?

Bread flour has gone up from 48p to 75p At Asda it is only 68p.
Lasagne used to be 1.99, now 2.69! So now I make my own.
Tinned tomatoes 33p, same as Tescos and Asda.
It's still cheapest by and large but I have noticed certain items (like those above) going up, I wonder what will go up next. I have started comparing prices at Tesco or Asda. We don't have an Aldi near us.

There are a lot more Waitrosy people in their now, probably because of the recession. I think they are making Lidl put the prices up.

Is the same thing happening in Aldi or Netto?

I live in Germany where Lidl is really cheap but when I was back in UK at Easter I went to Aldi and thought it was expensive then straight after saw better bargains in Morrissons and Tesco.

But if you shop at Morrisons, Tesco and Asda you have to do 3 shopping trips because they are all cheap for different things. Lidl used to be all-round cheap. Now it isn't any more.
Those price rises are well above inflation. It will be more difficult if you can't buy all the cheap things under one roof.

went to lidle for first time in 6 years, didn;t think it ws partic cheap for owt but chicken breast.

then went to another shop for fruit and veg.

then went to tesco for dog food

so it was pointless

Have never been to Lidl so can't comment on that specifically.

What I do think however (fwiw) that you will always be able to get x cheaper at Asda and y cheaper at Tesco and z cheaper at Lidl etc. What you need to do is work out where seems to be the best value for what you buy as a family.

Personally I get bored with one supermarket (and we live within a few miles of all the main ones) so I chop and change where I shop for variety and then go to Aldi occasionally for cheap fruit, cereal, eye cream (when I can be bothered)

is it due to the weakened pound? dhs cousins were over from france and for the first time in ages were starting to get happier with prices of things here after the exchange rate

I think it's not as dirt cheap as it used to be.

I have a main shop delivered from Tesco as I like the cubcard points, Lidl and Co-OP are within walking distance and on way to dd1's nursery so look online at their offers and get what I can from there (eg Ribena is half price at co op atm so scratched it off the Tesco shop) and will drive to morrissons (5 min drive) if they have a particularly good offer.

This way I think I get the good deals (esp. with Tesco doing the price checker against Asda and Sainsburys atm) without clocking up loads in petrol and delivery costs
