Anyone got any thoughts, for or against? Thanks! (I am interested because when I had ds1 I was a slave to her baby and toddler book till my mother pointed out that I was getting obsessed by it and I realised I just needed to simply cook decent ingreds and it would be fine. So I had no plans to get this new book but a friend just recommended it to me and against my better judgement I'm tempted!)

I wouldn't buy it.

I have a few of hers and lots are duplicates and ime the measurement don't work.

Don't bother. Presumably you're a reasonably intelligent enough woman to be able to plan your meals yourself?

perma · 22/04/2009 14:46

Well hopefully, but my even more intelligent friend (hard to believe I know ) who recommended it said it has some really good simple ideas in it. In the main I don't go mad on buying cook books but bought Jamie's Ministry of Food at her suggestion and have made the various permutations of the "Basic Stew Recipe" countless times, not done any of the other recipes, and was worth it just for that. But on balance I agree I shall save my money - thanks!

glad to hear it!

and if you want ideas or inspiration, where better to go then mumsnet?

Toffeepopple · 22/04/2009 17:45

Get it from the library. That's what I do. Then if I really like it I buy it. So many of these celebrity cook books I find I only end up liking one or two recipes from so not worth the money.

I borrowed the AK lunch box one from the library and didn't end up copying out a single recipe! £10 saved there then...

Did get the Ministry of Food for a Christmas present though and agree about the stew recipe.

I have it but don't use it at all.

I also have her Fussy Eaters one and I do use that one. I'm the fussy eater not the dc's.

I worked my way through the baby one when DS1 was weaned - I really couldn't cook anything at all and the book was a lifesaver and now DS1 will eat/try just about anything and I credit it to that book.

feel really sorry for my dc - bought up from 0 - 12 months on annabelle karmel, now on strict diet of fishfingers and baked beans, feel they have got accustomised to life style i can not maintain
