What are the yummy mummys feeding their dc for a packed lunch?

Went out for the day today. Had a lovely day ay the farm.

For lunch dd (17 months)had a houmous sandwhich and then some blueberries and raspberries and then a baby bel. The whole luch went into one box and was eaten quite quickly.

I was surrounded by yummy mummys who had their dc's lunch in many different shapes and sizes of tupperware and they were feeding them when I arrived and were still there when we left. And yes, with only dd for company I was being very nosey!

So what am I missing out on? Should dd's lunch be more than what it is? Am I doing something wrong? What are they feeding their children that I am not?

I'd imagine the yummies would be feeding the kids whatever the Lithuanian au pair had prepared for them while she got her face on.

duckyfuzz · 21/04/2009 19:42

your lunch sounds yummy, maybe their dcs are picky eaters and/or take ages - my DT1 can take 30 mins to eat a sandwich and she's not particularly fussy!

LizzyIzzyLou · 21/04/2009 19:59

That could be true ducky, just felt like we were missing out on something

maybe they were just taking a longer time to eat? chatting and stuff?

LizzyIzzyLou · 21/04/2009 20:04

Probably ramon, but what was in all those tubs?

I use a lot of tubs
grapes
cheese
crackers
sandwiches
crisps
etc etc

x3 kids coz they all like their own containers

audreyraines · 21/04/2009 20:47

i take a lot of containers becuase i never know what ds is going to accept/refuse. also it is great when i get peckish myself!

francagoestohollywood · 21/04/2009 20:54

Don't yummie mummies just go restaurants?

Don't yummy mummies have nannies for this kind of thing?

Me? I stick to sandwich, fruit and yogurt.

marymungoandmidge · 21/04/2009 21:21

Yeah, we use lots of little tubs too...

sandwiches (wholemeal bread, cos white seems to stick to the roof of their mouths!!!)
grapes
cucumber sticks
My DD (the youngest - 20 months) is a super quick eater - my son is soooooooo slow as he's always more interested on whats going on around him!

i just wish ds would eat carrot or cucumber sticks. he'd rather starve.

Bluestocking · 22/04/2009 09:02

Sushi. In miniature bento boxes. Can't Leonie eat with chopsticks yet? Oh how odd. Caspar and Ianthe could both manage them before their second birthday.

I have to admit I use lots of tubs as well. Ds1 loves carrot sticks, ds2 prefers cucumber and sweet peppers, ds1 likes tortillas, ds2 eats bread sandwiches. Ds3 is not old enough to be allowed to choose but just gums on whatever he's given.

Ds2 would far prefer Nutella to any other sandwich filling, but so far is under the impression it's only available in France .

MrsMerryHenry · 22/04/2009 12:15

I agree with Franca. That sounds like my sort of lunch and I fall neatly in the middle between yummy and scummy. Yummy = Carluccio's for lunch, dahling.

marymungoandmidge · 23/04/2009 15:48

I notice you refrained from defining scummy!!!
