DS is 2.11 and is happy to eat fish(sometimes) Quorn and cheese (usually) but can sniff out meat/ chicken at 20 paces. Any ideas for protein foods to try, or ways to disguise meat/ chicken rather cunningly

Thanks in advance

babyOcho · 16/04/2009 21:02

I'd second lentils

BCNS · 16/04/2009 21:04

eggs, yoghurt, milk, peas, nuts ( peanut butter is good)

I am so thick! Thank you! Anyone got any good recipes for egg, yoghurt, milk, pea, peanut butter and lentil soup? You're all invited for lunch tomorrow

Quinoa is high in protein.

I make chicken nuggety things that tend to taste more veggie than chicken-y. Don't know whether that would be any good?

Chop up a chicken breast, apple, couple of carrots & and onion. Whizz in food processor until smooth.
Shape into nuggets and dip in flour, egg & breadcrumbs. Stick in the oven.

followed by a omlette with peas ( bits of chicken maybe and hidden cheese?).. now if you do it spanish styleee.. and let it cool a bit.. tis a nice finger food

Really quick high protein meal that my 2yr old DS loves is couscous made with vegetable stock (I use the low salt version) with a sprinkling of ground coriander and cumin then stir in some chick peas, raisins and microwaved frozen peas. Cupboard to plate in 10 mins

add ground nuts or wheat germ at every opportunity.

High protien breakfast - porridge made with milk with added wheat germ and ground nuts

pointydog · 02/05/2009 21:25

baked beans

ds (22 months) won't eat protein (except for cheese. Man can that child eat cheese!) unless it's cunningly disguised. So I make fish cakes, whizz lentils and other pulses into tomato sauce, egg fried rice, pancakes, soup made with chicken stock etc. He's strangely partial to prawns, so I quite often stick a couple of prawns onto his plate.
