I don't mean comfort food, but food that makes you feel nourished and alive after a period of being run down or eating crap?

Mine is a green thai curry with lots of veg.

A salad.

everGreensleeves · 15/04/2009 15:53

sunshine powerfood salad from Giraffe

usedtoreadbooks · 15/04/2009 16:04

Salad (the one by Leon that the Giraffe one was nicked from is much better, IMHO); roast chicken / beef (rare) + trimmings and, crucially, condiments; spag bol - though I found, when following a low-carb diet, that the bol with lightly steamed cabbage, pref spring pointed cabbage (Lidl used to sell it for 40p) is even nicer than the pasta.

THai green curry with spinach (having that tonight)

Chicken pieces (chopped thighs) and peppers, tossed in cumin, coriander, turmeric and olive oil. Thrown in the oven for 20 mins. Served with lots of salad and pitta bread. Always have that when I come back from MIL's house and haven't had any fresh veg or fruit.

MrsMattie · 15/04/2009 16:06

Lots of steamed or stirfried veg, especially broccoli.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 15/04/2009 16:06

I still crave a noodle soup from when I lived in S Korea in 1997. It was called Chambon and was noodles in broth with octopus chunks, shredded cabbage and onion, garlic and leaf herbs and loads of chilli. It tore through colds and coughs and left you streaming but MAN you felt so alive!

fruit and veg

tigerdriver · 15/04/2009 21:53

butter chicken, but only as prepared by me.

Wish it was fruit and veg, but I seem to need the yoghurt, cream, butter, oil, etc etc

norksinmywaistband · 15/04/2009 22:05

My thai red curry with Aubergine, courgette, mushrooms and chicken.
Soul food as its yum, loads of veg, and I am the only one thats eats it so always have some in the freezer for days when required

HarryB · 16/04/2009 10:56

My "Spanish" spicy stew. Chicken, chorizo, chilli, veg (whatever you have to hand) and white beans in tomato sauce.

timmette · 16/04/2009 13:04

Thai curry, stir fried broccoli, or pakchoi or green things and steamed rice generally.
Also smoked duck breast and pakchoi salad - yummy
