sauce for pasta help needed

I have a tiny bit of cream, no cheese & not a lot else very exciting until I actually get round to doing my shopping.

Anyone got any suggestions other than a tomatoey one? Or shall I stick with that for tonight's tea?

TIA

Have you got olive oil, chilli and garlic?

Cook pasta, drain, then return to the pan with finely chopped garlic and chilli (season) and lots of olive oil.

Would be lovely with parmesan but just as tasty without!

Lots of garlic in some olive oil or butter, then can add anything (thinly slices chicken strips / flaked salmon / prawns / spinach / peas / very thinly chopped cabbage even) then add the cream and season.

thank-you both. I have butter but no olive oil (really ought to do my shopping but trying to use up what we have seemed a good idea at the time!). Have plenty of veggies though, & garlic & chilli. I will concoct something along the lines of your ideas, much more interesting than a tomatoey sauce.

Thanks

What veggies. Because thinly sliced courgettes fried with garlic and chilli (and a bit of lemon zest if you have it) is absolutely delicious.

oh, nothing quite so exotic left But I didn't know that about courgettes, will make a note of it to try out when I do do my shopping.

have carrotts, some peas, cauliflower & some cabbage.

Oh, and a butternut squash that I haven't decided what to do with yet but am considering soup & crusty fresh bread

Have you got broccoli?
I make a gorgeous pasta sauce with broccoli. Let me know if you want the recipe.

Soup is good. We also often have it stuffed with rice/couscous and peas/sweetcorn and ricotta/parmesan/philly/anything else you have lying around the house!

If you're making soup - carrots in butternut soup work well and use up old manky carrots if you have any and bulk up the soup.
