Surely we can't be THAT lazy in this country?

I have just made Chocolate Rice Crispy-things for the first time since I was a wee tot.

I am amazed that these things are actually available ready-made in the shops. Chocolate. Rice Crispies. A spoon. Cupcake cases. What's so frickin' difficult about that?

LOL

I always secretly want to buy ready sliced onions.

Ledodgy · 14/04/2009 20:30

Well we are a country that sells ready grated cheese so make of that what you will....

moondog · 14/04/2009 20:31

Aye.I read something about a company who are bringing out liquid eggs in a bottle and the Chief Exec. of company basically admitted they were for lazy fuckers {admittedly I paraphrase.]

MrsMerryHenry · 14/04/2009 20:31

and ready-mashed potatoes.

Did that Chief Exec go by the name of Ratner, perchance, moondog?

OP posts:
moondog · 14/04/2009 20:39

Yes, i tohught it was a very Ratner style comment.

MrsMerryHenry · 14/04/2009 20:40

I love the ironic juxtaposition of the words 'Ratner' and 'style' in that sentence, moonie!

What gets me is those weird bowls of cereal with milk you see in service stations.

Also ,if people are in such ahurry, why can't they just have some bread and cheese or boil an agg? Lots of so called 'convenience foods' sound like aright faff to me. All those little pouches to slit and pierce and 'microwave on half power for 45.5 seconds then boil to buggery for 33 minutes exactly'. Que?

onepieceofcremeegg · 14/04/2009 20:45

They are about a £1 to buy moondog. (the mine cereal bowls plus milk I mean).

Personally I am a bit about prepacked sandwiches. Not so much the more involved wraps/baguettes, fair enough they are a bit more faff to make I s'pose. But ham and tomato, it's not tricky really. They all taste a bit bleeugh imo too.

My late grandad refused to buy crisps. He used to work out how much they cost per tonne and it was extortionate!

onepieceofcremeegg · 14/04/2009 20:45

mini cereal bowls, not mine

solidgoldshaggingbunnies · 14/04/2009 20:46

I used to buy the cereal-bowls-with-milk as they are great for when you are working an early shift in a workplace with no kitchen.

moondog · 14/04/2009 20:49

Iwould shoot myself if i felt need to buy one of those cereal bowls.
Cremeegg, I'm like that with all breakfast cereals.Mark up is staggering for a bit of old wheat/oats. It's home made muesli or porridoge or nowt in our house.

MrsMerryHenry · 14/04/2009 20:53

Moondog - I think I'm your cereal twin!

onepieceofcremeegg · 14/04/2009 20:54

Hope this doesn't kick off wrt mini cereal bowls.

I bought a massive box of ready brek equivalent from Aldi, almost a kilo 900g I think and it cost less than a pound. I was very

The dcs (and dh) eagerly await holidays and the arrival of a box of coco pops. Dh has to have gluten free cereal so he is stuck with mainly rice based stuff.

moondog · 14/04/2009 20:55

I get the feeling it may well do Creme.

moondog · 14/04/2009 20:56

And I get a kilo of oats for about 35p so stick that in yer pipe and smoke it!

snigger · 14/04/2009 20:57

My Dad never recovered from the sight of me, his beloved sensible eldest, buying frozen water. He loves his ice cube trays, my Dad.

I think the Everest of laziness is certainly pancake mix - add milk and an egg? WTF? It's a bag of FLOUR.

MrsMerryHenry · 14/04/2009 20:57

Whaaaat?? Where from? Do you have some kind of lentil-weaving food co-operative near you?

OP posts:
TrillianAstra · 14/04/2009 20:57

How do the cereal bowls work? Are they like a muller corner?

onepieceofcremeegg · 14/04/2009 20:58

Well if you smoke it there won't be much left for the morning.

MrsMerryHenry · 14/04/2009 20:58

Snigger - seriously, you have to add milk and egg to pancake mix?

OP posts:
moondog · 14/04/2009 20:59

No [although do frequent lentil weaving establishments]. Morrisons I think.
Yes, like 'Muller Corners' which I soooooo disapprove of.I can't help but hiss when i pass them in a shop.

bran · 14/04/2009 21:00

I've never managed to make chocolate rice crispy thingies. Although I don't like them much so I wouldn't buy them either.

There are some things that are difficult to cook that I am strangely fab at making, and some really simple things that I bollox up every time. Anything involving melted chocolate inevitably falls into the second category.

onepieceofcremeegg · 14/04/2009 21:00

On a slight aside from the mini cereal bowls, do none of you think WHAT?? when you look at 2 or 3 boxes of faily "normal" cereals and if you were to buy them it would cost almost £10!!

Some of the Kelloggs etc brands if not on offer (e.g. Special K) are about £3 a box. Also officially that would be a box containing 20 servings. what?! that would last me a week at the most and I don't think I eat a lot. 30g of cereal isn't a lot is it (imo) or is that just me?

moondog · 14/04/2009 21:01

30g is feck all, no.
