maybe this is the way to make my fortune, but why dont they sell frozen peas in self seal bags.
my freezer draw has a rubble layer of peas and mixed veg at the bottom.

You can get clamp things that seal them from lakeland or betterwear.

And Ikea

theDreadPirateRabbits · 04/04/2009 22:35

ziploc would be a terrible waste of resources. If you haven't got freezer clips, use a clothes peg (and then get to lakeland/ikea and get some)

lucysmam · 04/04/2009 22:35

I got one of those washing thingys that has loads of little pegs on it from the pound shop & took the pegs off it. Twist the top of the bag, put peg on, job done! No random peas lurking in the bottom of the freezer drawer

zanz1bar · 04/04/2009 22:39

wouldn't it be a simple solution to buy stuff like frozen peas in the sort of bag that you cut the top off but that then seals like a zip lock.

it can't be that expensive to produce, i have a similar design for dried apricots and i don't tend to spill a lot of dried apricots on the floor.

zips probably wouldn't work frozen, anyway be more tidier with your peas in the first place

zanz1bar · 04/04/2009 22:42

they make individually wrapped frozen veg 'pouches' for the microwave, but i'm looking for big family sized packs that don't spill when grabbed out the freezer.

how many thousands of clothes pegs are bought and used to clamp pea packs in freezers in this country?

just doesn't make sense?

so when i see a self seal bag in the freezer section allow me to jump up and down sceaming 'that was my idea'

yes probably

lucysmam · 04/04/2009 22:48

I use them for everything! Big bag of tea bags has one on the top, as does my half eaten popcorn, packets in the freezer

They come in handy you know

LadyOfScoffleTheEasterEggs · 04/04/2009 22:52

lucys - I thought you meant you pegged a peg onto a big tea bag and dunked it in your tea then!

LackaDAISYcal · 04/04/2009 22:54

hubby is a packaging development bod.....says that ziploc bags cost about four or five times the amount of a bog standard bag and would slow production on the packing line so it just wouldn't be cost effective. Also, supermarkets have signed up to an agreement to reduce packaging weights by up to 25%, the ziplocs would add rather than subtract.

I know they have them for grapes, but the only reason is that too many people were slipping on squished grapes that had escaped and suing the supermarkets.

sorry to rain on your parade

oh and Dh recommends a multi-function, low cost device to stop your pea and veg rubble...tis the clothes peg you mentioned before!!

Buy large ziploc freezer bags from waitrose, and double bag peas into said waitrose bag. Or use a peg. Whatever.

zanz1bar · 05/04/2009 10:23

thanks lackcdaisycal, now i know, dam.

lucysmam · 05/04/2009 10:28

That made me giggle LOS!!! Erm, nope! I have a huge bag of tea bags that is clamped shut with a peg so the little (normal sized )tea bags don't fall out of it
