Take-Aways - Expensive?

I fear we have had our last ever take-away!Because of the credit crunch we have drastically cut down on luxuries and have not had a take away for a while. Was going to have one last night as a treat but was shocked at the price! One chicken curry and rice and one shared starter and shared main course (vegetable curry/rice) between me and dd - £15. Quickly changed mind and made our own! Does anyone else think they are getting very expensive or is this reasonable?

They are expensive. For 2 mains, 1 rice, 1 chips and a naan bread our local takeaway is about £13-£15.

Asda meal deal - 2 mini starters, 2 mains, 2 rice and 2 naan = £6.50 and we add on the 7 mini snacks for £1 so £7.50 all in

Usually do this about once or twice a month on a Friday after a poo week and don't have the time to do it from scratch

I agree. They are a treat around here.

I have learned to make a very passable fried rice, chow mein, pizza, chicken curry, etc etc. They often cheaper to make than other meals (eg roasts, stews) as the main ingredients are rice, noodles, flour, onions etc.

Iklboo - the Asda one sounds good. I think we will try that instead.

They are very expensive but DH knows the guys at our local fab Indian takeaway.

We get enough food to feed 4 of us (6 if the dd's are awake) for £20 so not bad 1-2 a month.

We get poppodums x 4
Chilli Sauce/Spiced Onions
Chicken Pakora
Any 2/3 main meals
2 Saffron Rice
2 chips (for DH and ds1)
2 Garlic naan
Galub jamin

God i wish it was Saturday lol
