I don't think there's a universal rule on this one. If it's smooth pnut butter I'd offer it from age 6 months.
Think I have offered it from 6 months, actually!
The more paranoid people offer it first time ever in a hospital carpark (I am not one of those people).
Good luck.
You could always put a little on the skin, first, to see if there's any reaction (redness).

i was giving to my dd at this age. just remember that pb is quite salty...

unless there is a strong histopry of peanut allergy - anytime. Agree with pecanpie - too salty for little ones.

DH said some peanut allergies are triggered by extracts of nut oils in baby lotions tec. Peanuts are meant to be eaten

I'm sure DH gave DS some peanut butter on toast when he was about 6 months old.

We get through jars and jars of it

I've been told off (till 3 I think) as there's a history of asthma in the family.

In Israel children are usually given peanuts during the first year of life. They seem to have a much lower risk of peanut allergy, 1.85% in UK compared to 0.17% in Israel. No one seems to know exactly why though but the suspicion is that they get used to peanuts quickly. Recently there was a program which 'cured' peanut allergies by gradually increasing exposure to peanuts, first with peanut flour then increasing to 6 or 7 peanuts at a time.
