Bit skint this month so thinking of going "value" some items.

Have run out of teabags and saw some value ones in Tesco for 27p! What on earth do they taste like? Minging or passable?

Like the stuff they sweep off the floor!

Truly shocking.

But next level up, like Tesco own brand is passable.

katiepotatie · 26/03/2009 18:44

don't do it !!!!!!! ing

shinyshoes · 26/03/2009 18:44

Don't do it!!!!!! I wouldn't consider it being anything like tea.

Vile stuff.

Like lovemydog says Buy the next brand up Tesco own brand if you are strapped for cash.

TigerFeet · 26/03/2009 18:45

I'd rather drink less tea

Or use a teabag more than once

They are truly awful

diedandgonetodevon · 26/03/2009 18:46

Don't do it!! save money on something else. Cheap tea is miserable stuff

abroadandmisunderstood · 26/03/2009 18:46

dust. Don't do it. My mum taught me two things as I left home:

  1. Never buy value teabags. Supermarket own should be ok but not value.
  1. No matter how skint you are, keep money back for decent toilet roll (damn she was right about that after 3rd degree tear after childbirth!)
lucysmam · 26/03/2009 20:38

next level up, not value!!!

RidiculousCrush · 26/03/2009 20:39

they are shit

tesco own are fine

Meglet · 26/03/2009 20:42

fecking horrible.

I binned the value ones as they were un-drinkable.

Wallace · 26/03/2009 20:49

Never tried value tea-bags, but the value loo roll is ok!

CurlyhairedAssassin · 26/03/2009 21:55

Wow, I almost want to buy some just out of curiosity after that reaction! Do any of you know what's actually in 'em? Is it just the dust scrapings off the factory floor or something?! I wonder if they sell many, and who actually buys them. Probably the same people that replenish hot drinks machines.

I am normally a Yorkshire tea girl (grandma always said it was best!), but I will try the Tesco own brand I think. Thanks.

We buy Netto own brand red box tea bags, about £1.50 for 240 bags. We bought them the first time on a very skint month but really like it and everyone who has a cuppa at our house always comments on the lovely cuppa.

OR buy loose tea and dust off your teapot, that works out cheaper even if you buy quite expensive loose tea.
