They're coming for lunch

There will be 6 adults and 2 children

Must contain meat for the elders

I'm not a confident cook but will give it a bash

DP more skilled in this area so we can up the trickery a bit, but I prefer to keep it nice and simple...

TIA!

hmmmm... r u here???

Mintyy · 24/03/2009 21:20

Roast chicken, roast lamb, roast duck, roast beef, or roast turkey (not all at once lol!)

Everyone loves roast potatoes so you can be sure everyone will eat something.

Tis very simple once all the veggies are prepared. And that only takes about half an hour, even if for 8 people.

tsxd · 24/03/2009 21:21

ok!!firstly,i have to say that i come from greece, meaning that my english might be a little dissapointing
and second,u r planning to cook meat.what kind of meat will it be?

Beef casserole? Jamie Oliver does a good one in one of his books, and you have the added advantage of making it the day before and re-heating.

luvaduck · 24/03/2009 21:26

beef and ale pie - dead easy and a winner. serve with green veg and mash.

v easy to make but you have to put in oven a couple of hours beforehand

snice · 24/03/2009 21:27

Baked gammon, jacket pots and veg.

Parsley or mustard sauce if you can be bothered. I'd have mango chutney because I'm lazy.

notnowbernard · 24/03/2009 21:31

Fab ideas everyone, thanks!

DP says Nay to a roast... this would be what I would've gone for, always a winner etc etc

Like the idea of a beef stew... have a great recipe somewhere, will dig it out!

GossipMonger · 24/03/2009 21:55

Chicken portions stuffed with mozerella and wrapped in bacon a casserole dish full takes about 10 mins to prepare and an hour to cook serve with new potatoes (hardly any prep) and veg.
Goes down a storm every time I do it and not too much work.

GossipMonger · 24/03/2009 21:59

Oooh it is sooo yummy and looks like you have been to lots of effort!

You need the quick cook stuff (Sains or Waitrose) and just follow the instructions til it goes soft. Plate it and add a slice of gorgonzola and add more polenta over the top. The cheese melts and the stew goes over the top and yum!

Do mash as well for those who might not be as adventurous!

notnowbernard · 24/03/2009 22:01

Sounds gorge, thankyou
