oh my lord
did you try one?

....i think

janeite · 24/03/2009 17:53

Ooh - are they nice? Can't stand courgettes but love carrot cake!

Nabster · 24/03/2009 18:36

Haven't had one yet as having dinner soon. Apparently you can't taste the courgette. It is just for moisture and vitamins (says the book)

Another good way to do this is to buy frozen chopped spinach, which comes in cubes. You can chuck a handful into bolognese without them noticing.

Or, make meatballs - chuck onion, garlic, red pepper and any other veg (some, like carrots, will have to be parboiled) into a food processor and whizz the lot up until it's a sludge. Then form into balls and bake in the oven.

Good one!
Does he eat pasta? I always get TONS of veg pureed up with the tomato sauce on pasta, they love it, no idea its veg!

Nabster · 24/03/2009 18:44

I used to do pasta so much but DD isn't a fan and I have got out of the habit.

My best was when DS1 saw me slicing up peppers and said he didn't like them. Brain must have been working that day as I decided to blitz them up with some milk and he had 3 helpings.

Tbh I don't really go in for disguising veg (adn I say that as the mum of a fussy eater)

I'd rather introduce whole veg gradually. Ds is 5 adn will eat raw carrots - sometimes peas, green beans, olives, cherry tomatoes and occasionally sweetcorn.

It's taken 3 years to get this far and I think he's done well.

courgette fritters?

Nabster · 24/03/2009 19:01

It was a snap decision to make these ones - were just going to make choc chip - but it was a jokey thread about tricking my son. He does eat some veg but like most parents I wuild like him to eat more.

Don't worry I completly understand what you meant Nab!

Nabster · 25/03/2009 08:16

I'm not worried.

The muffins are blooming delicious and no-one would ever know there were courgettes in them.
