Hello!

I was just wondering how long it would be possible to keep royal icing runouts?

I want to start practicing for making my DD's birthday cake but didn't want to have to bin my only decent attempt if its the first one I make IYSWIM. So I was planning on having the runouts made before I even bake/ice a cake.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've never tried them so not 100% sure but, according to the International School of Sugarcraft book I borrowed from the library, they can be kept between layers of greaseproof paper. It says they can be done well in advance, so long as they are carefully stored but nothing about how long for. Sorry if that's no use whatsoever, thought I'd have a look for you since no-one's answered

When are they for?

I actually have the International School of Sugarcraft Book One here. It didn't say exactly how long tho... hence me asking.

I guess I can just start practicing and if I feel they've been made too long whip them off the cake before we eat it! lol

Thanks for replying

That's the one I borrowed as well, it didn't say how long but I would assume a while if they're properly stored. Don't know how edible they'd be though if you were thinking of storing for a long time. Although, you could probably store them indefinately if you weren't going to eat them
