what are falafals?

what are they and how can i make them i keep reading about them in my blw book but there's no explanation of what they are they look nice though

they are like little bhajees, round, spicy, normally with chickpeas in. they are greek i think.

I ate them in Israel, I think that they are of arabic origin.

Deep fried balls of chickpeas, normally served in pitta bread with salad and tahini sauce and some chilli sauce.

They are absolutely delicious - and spelt falafel btw

They are street food in Israel/egypt.
I bought a box the other day (you have to deep fry them yourself). it was a white and purple box, and they were very good. They are quite spicy though...

Actually, I can't remember what the brand was, which is why I described the box. I think it had arabic writing on it as well....

I remember handing some around at a bring and share do at Church, telling everyone they were falafel (pronounced as written) until some bright spark reliably informed me that it is properly said like "floffal", which prompted lots of comments about how "f**awful" they were ! Good source of fibre and flatulence they are...
