DS is very active, so no matter what he eats is not overweight.
Just over an hour ago he finished the biggest roast dinner you've ever seen and now is on to a outsize bowl of cereal. I have no issue with that in itself - he's hungry, he's growing, he needs to eat and he's active and not overweight. But am out of ideas about for decent food inbetween meals and would appreciate some new suggestions. He already has access to cereal, soup, things to make sandwiches, crumpets, hot cross buns, toast, tinned fruit, fresh fruit, yoghurt, rice pudding, dips ....basically whatever is in the house he will eat. any ideas for foods which will sustain him for longer between meals?

wow, I'd hate to see your groceries bill!

Porridge is very filling. Made with milk. It does really fill you up. Maybe not exciting enough?

porridge (oats and ready-brek varieties) always available. Used sometimes, but honestly, kids this age just never stop eating. It's getting a balance between interesting and healthy. I have no problem with crisps/biscuits/cakes/chocolate in moderation but have learnt that any size packs of the aforementioned will only last one night...

My mum had a bottomless pot of veg soup on the go all the time when I was growing up. My brothers ate it between meals, my sister and I ate it instead of meals!

Pasta. Large plate of pasta when they come through the door after school/college - with whatever sauce they like.

Dinner at 6 - 7pm. Large amount with lots of veg and potatoes.

Beans on toast or sardines on toast or sandwich with hot chocolate or soup at about 9 -10 pm.

It does ease off a bit by the time they are about 20.
