I have used it, diced in a hotpot/stew. Done in the slow cooker, was nice.
Just tinned toms, lentils, onions and garlic, beef, some herbs, cook it for a long time on a low heat.

Yes, just put everything Lizzylou suggested (with or without lentils) in the slow cooker and leave for ages. I used some a few weeks ago and it was yum; there was a bit of fat on it, which all melted into a lovely rich gravy.

If you have some leeks you could slice those up and put them in, and some pearl barley would be good too - both thicken up the liquid nicely. But neither are crucial. Enjoy.

I just stuck mine in the slow cooker with some onions, carrots and a bottle of ale. The 2nd time I made it I chucked in a handful of pearl barley too, that thickened it up and was v filling.

Both ways were lovely.

there is a very good Delia recipe - I am sure you can google it or find it on her site. It is delicious, but takes a long time to cook if you don't have a slow cooker - at least 4 hours I think.

Oh yes, good point re time, I put mine in for about 8hrs. The butcher told me it would need literally all day.

gosh that was bloody gorgeous!!

i browned the beef with 4 small red onions and put it in the slow cooker, with tin of toms, salt and pepper and coriander leaves.

served with mash potatoes...

yum yum yum!!!!!

(the slow cooker was on high for 1.5 hours and then low on the last half an hour).
