TIA

You can mix it with hot pasta and stir over a low heat for a minute or two for a creamy cheesey sauce?

likessleep · 25/02/2009 12:37

thanks morningpaper, i was thinking something along those lines, but never tried making that ... cheers for posting

You can bung in some pesto too if he likes it - a creamy cheesey pesto-y sauce yum yum! Cook the veggies and mix in and away you go! Hope he likes it

Mammina · 25/02/2009 14:37

another vote for the cream cheese pesto dish, DD loves it.
or use it in a pasta bake, add a little bit of milk, tuna, veg etc?

ChopsTheDuck · 25/02/2009 14:40

I dissolve it into stock to make a creamy cheesey sauce and then mix in asparagus, chicken and sweetcorn to make a pie filling.

Ditto the pesto sauce. We also bung in mushrooms and grilled bacon or fried pancetta cubes - lovely!

have tried pesto, philadelphia, pasta and various veg and he's spat it back out i'm afraid!

oh dear.
cheese on toast?!

likessleep · 25/02/2009 17:20

he is a bit weird with his food tbh, am trying to encourage him with different tastes (he is very much a meat and two veg man!).

he's not liked pesto before, but i thought the philadelphia might make the pesto a bit creamier. i only put in a smidgen on pesto.

luckily i also had some leftover cheese sauce and fish thing from yesterday which he's devoured.

i think i was so paranoid about no salt in first year that i've encouraged him to like bland foods!

mind you, he does like curry

i'll try him again with it in a week or so ...

pesto is about the only thing DD WILL eat! although today I was very proud of her, she ate a bit of apple AND a bite of pepper. I don't want to speak to soon but I'm hoping we're turning a corner

likessleep · 25/02/2009 17:39

aaah, it is lovely when they start to eat different things isn't it?

mind you, i don't think there are 'corners' where toddlers are concerned, just lots of u bends!

oh god yes I am so bored of doing the same stuff over and over, and getting new stuff rejected. I nearly fell off my chair yesterday when she ate 3, yes 3 pancakes! (this is from someone who was off the scale with her weight and ate minuscule portions)

likessleep · 25/02/2009 19:51

i bet you just wanted to give her a great big kiss, grinning ear to ear!

Mammina · 25/02/2009 23:29

yes and that's exactly what I did!

forevared · 26/02/2009 12:18

LOL. I couldn't believe my ears the other day when I asked ds aged 3 what he wanted for dinner expecting the usual chicken nuggets and chips, and he said vegetables. I literally danced round the kitchen for joy as he proceeded to eat an entire raw carrot.

luvaduck · 26/02/2009 12:36

popeye pasta - with spinach from AK. my ds adores it.

BananaSkin · 27/02/2009 18:21

I mix with tinned mackeral to make a pate and put on baked potatoes or give with oatcakes (in an attempt to up their oily fish intake).

AitchTwoOh · 27/02/2009 18:23

as an adult, i don't actually think it works that well in pasta tbh. lovely on an oatcake, though.

AitchTwoOh · 27/02/2009 18:24

oh yes, bananaskin, that's pretty much my mackerel pate recipe. although not tinned (i didn't know you could get tinned) and if you add a squeeze of lemon and some horseradish.... yum.
