I bought some yesterday and they taste different!!
The chocolate has changed and they taste horrid. They've been the same all my life (except the colours) and now they go and mess with them.

They've removed e numbers I think? Agree they taste yuck and you don't get the lid with the letter on!

bluebump · 24/02/2009 13:36

I thought the same! It must be the lack of e numbers then.

DH and I played a game with smarties for years. If he guessed the letter in the lid he won a blow job. He never guessed correctly once! He feels cheated, understandably.

And I feel cheated because I don't get to fire the lid out of the tube.

But when I had Smarties at christmas they were fine. But this new packet yesterday was vile. I think they've changed the chocolate formulation.
I'm outraged!

Hello Fred

My DS1 loves smarties. In fact they are the treat used for bribery in this house. He esp likes the brown ones as thinks they are more chocolately. I get them as they have no e-numbers and even innocent(ish) looking choc like dairy milk has e-numbers. And maltesers have tons (but taste good).

They taste like cardboard

Mine was a five pack too, for £1. Maybe they use cheaper chocolate in the multi-packs.

And Nestle too.

PuppyMonkey · 24/02/2009 15:50

What? They've not messed with orange smarties have they? B*stards.

LinneyTuckandMingMingToo · 24/02/2009 15:55

The orange ones are the only ones that are still ok, but even they are different.
