Are there any sample menus for toddlers out there?

Suffering from complete imagination failure - are there any sample one-week meal plans on Mumsnet anywhere? I seem to cook the same five dishes all the time.

Hmmm. Haven't seen one. Have you tried getting a recipe book from the library? What sort of things does he/she eat at the moment and how old is he/she? It is hard to come up with 'exciting', healthy options every night...

Sorry, got distracted with online search! She is 14 months. A v good eater but we see to have a lot of lentil and/or chicken casserole, pasta, fish fingers, omelette and cheese on toast all with veggies (mostly peas, broccoli, courgette) on the side.

This?

I have nor read it yet HTH.

Annabel Karmel books are qite good, I have got 2Superfoods2 and "Baby and toddler Meal planner". Try in your library or charity shops (got mine for 50p each).

Gorionine · 24/02/2009 10:27

that would be "superfoods"

MrsMattie · 24/02/2009 10:32

Sandwiches? Wraps? Little 'lunchy' things like that?

Eggy bread?

Soup?

Jacket potatoes with fillings?

Cottage pie? Fish pie?

Annabel Karmel has a few nice curry recipes for toddlers - very mild, sweet korma-style curries. May be able to google them?

good ideas all, thanks. That website is v comprehensive.

Hadn't thought of trying charity shop for the cook books. Will give that a go. Just find everything takes me much longer than the recipes suggest. Have been trying to do a meal plan for the whole family for two weeks and then buy all the food online and it's literally taken days!! My thinking is that putting in the time now will pay off later when all the meals are lined up.

That blog (that Gorionine posted) is incredible! She's going to go through the formula ingredients line by line and match it with what she gives her toddler to eat

Anyway, back to the topic in hand...DS really enjoys mini veggie sausages at the mo. You can make up a whole load in advance and they freeze really well. The recipe is from a vegetarian pregnancy and baby book which I will try and find a link to.

He also likes sweet potato chips - slices of sweet potato, cover in egg white, bake in oven in a bit of veg oil at 200 degrees. for about 30mins

Notintheknow · 24/02/2009 11:06

oh wow, the sweet potato chips sound v cool.

They are really yummy. It's not worth doing less than 1 potato which is too much for DS so there are always some for me to pick at whilst I feed him!

Here's the link to the vegetarian baby book for the:
sausages
