Just been looking through a magazine that showed these. Anyone eaten them and can say they were good?

They will not be cheap - this tyupe of cut and meat at one time was a cheap cut but now rare and expensive - for what it actually is.

You need to go to a specialist butcher to get them.

Most ox heads (minus brains) are now fed straight into a mechanical process along with all other bones to reclaim the absolute last fragment of meat which is then used in pies, sausage and the like.

Sadly the giant industrial slaughterhouses we have now do not have time to do specialist cuts. Some smaller slaughter houses that specialise in organic and restaurant meats do them.

Ox cheek is nice though - very tasty and rich gravy usually made with red wine or even port.

It will be cheaper if you go to a butcher who cuts up their own carcasses. Shin is cheapish and good for stewing.

They had ox cheeks for sale at the meat counter in Waitrose this week, can't remember how much they were though, meant to be very yummy in casserole dishes.

buy ox cheek online

It is £9 per pound though! I paid £3.50 for a ILB of shin beef last week

sorry no re reading it states they are packs of two at 800g min and then it is £11+ per kilo, so not sure but seems a lot for a cut that was used by the poor to use as much of the ox as possible.
