I was thinking of following this - does anyone know how many points you can have per day (5ft 6 and about 9 and a half stone on a good day....)
Also - how do you work out the points system and are there any good websites with info & recipes ???

There is a questionnaire to work out how many point you are allowed - it is based on age, activity level/type of job you do, if you are breastfeeding etc (haven't got my book with me to check what else they ask.

The points are based on calories & saturated fat and you get a points calculator when you join. You pit in the cals, look down the sat fat column & it gives you how many points are in the food portion.

weighwatchers.co.uk will give you more info... You can join online if you can't mae it to meetings.

I'm doing weightwatchers online. According to the WW site, if you are 5'6" then the healthy weight range for you would be 8st 12lb to 11st 1lb. Since you're already within that range, I don't know what sort of target they would automatically work out for you although you can set your own target.

The only way to find out how many points you would be allotted would be to register. I started at 13st 8lb and was given 21 points per day. I have since gone down to 20 points after I lost around a stone.

I'm doing reasonably well with the weight loss and not finding it particularly difficult. There are loads of good recipes which you can access online once you've joined - there's a huge database. You can also enter details of your own recipes allowing you to point your own creations or variations to their recipes. I think my tastes have changed and fattier foods seem less appealing now.

Boiling it down to basics?
1- Minimise fat e.g. you can make soup with no oil; just soften the onion in a little stock instead. Similarly, you can roast veg with minimal oil - get an oil spray.
2- Cut down snacking. And, snack on veg and low fat stuff. A teaspoon of mayonnaise or butter barely registers.
3- Can't do without the goodies? Keep it to tiny quantities. One square of chocolate can satisfy the urge (substitute treat of your choice).

I am about the same size and weight as you Mum1369...well 5'5 1/2..but almost the same. A friend where I worked run a weight watcher class and she told me that I should be on 18 points a day. Hope this helps

I did weightwatchers years ago and 18 points is the allowance for your height/weight.
Check out the ww website. You can order a points calculator and various books listing points values of foods plus recipe books.
