Just need to do a plain sponge for ds's birthday cake, it's a tin I haven't used before so - how many eggs do you think?

What is it in inches? Suspect it is about 10?

When I make a victoria sponge to be split into two 8" tins, I would use 4 eggs (large).

I would say at a guess use 6.

I thought 30cm was 15"

could well be fizzbuzz, I was just taking a wild guess from my chair rather than getting off my backside to get the tape measure

ShortButNotSweet · 18/02/2009 20:01

30cm is 12".

I'd say 6 eggs too.

well according to the tape measure that DS2 has kindly got me from my sewing box, 30cm on one side = 11.5 inches on the other.

Thanks everyone, I'll go with 6 eggs!

I'm a bit hit and miss with cakes so you might need to cross your legs too!

It's just under 12 inches. I only use 8 inch tins (3 eggs).

I'm sure this could be solved properly - the area of a circle being pi r squared. The trouble is that I have no calculator here. But at a rough guess, the area of a 12 inch cake tin must be around double the area of an 8 inch cake tin. So I'd go with 6 eggs.
