jar didnt actually say amount needed per person,

it only had an example of a recipe for thai salmon and it said 2 tsp per fillet so i figured chicken would cope with the same,

i added coco milk (whole tin) and my god, my lips are still hurting now,

i have nat yog but i am thinking it may split,

should i strain liquid off and get dp to buy another tin of coco milk on his way home,

any other ideas?

i tried adding some sweetner, no joy...

I did this with chilli and a lovely mumsnetter told me to put a peeled potato in with it and cook for a bit longer to absorb some of the heat.

It was certainly not as hot once I'd done it. I also added lots of creme fraiche just before I served it.

potato is supposed to absorb excess salt, it shouldn't work with curry heat because the hot stuff is fat-soluble - cream/creme fraiche/matural yoghurt are more likely to help. you could do a minted yoghurt as a side dish to add yourself while eating, rather than putting it in and heating more (to avoid splitting)

I'm not saying don't try the potato - if littlefish says it helped then it's definitely worth a go, but fat stuff will be better.

i think creamed coco grated in would be good,

have heard about the pot thing before,

i dont have pots,

will i do, but they are in the oven sauting as a side dish so too roasted to use,

i think the sweetner may have helped a little,

either that or my poor mouth is still numb,

gutted i was really looking forward to dinner

i would add more coconut milk if poss

Yoghurt is your best bet - hence lhassi as a drink in India. Don't put it in the curry though. I'd also get your dp to get some more coconut milk on the way home and you could ladle out some of the milk/stock that's in it and replace with milk. It won't taste as nice but won't burn your lips!

thanks all,

added more coco milk [blows diet emotion]

lips are still burning,

strangly enjoying the feeling
