Help! My son is a week away from his 1st birthday and his entire repertoire of food consists of soldiers of toast, pasta with tomato- based sauce, yogurt/fromage frais and the obvious rusk/biscuit type things...He won't touch fresh fruit or veggies, and hot food with lumps of meat/fish or veggies is also met with the arm across the mouth and a look as though I am trying to poison him... I started weaning him at 4.5 months, and for a few months he did well, eating most of the things I gave him (mostly Anabel Karmel recipies), but I don't know where I've gone wrong! Any tips?

what about going back to puree for a couple of weeks, and then re introducing more lumps

I guess I could try this although keep thinking he should be way past the puree stage by now. I know I'm partially to blame cos I keep giving him pasta cos I know he'll eat it.(i changed my nickname)

Hi Yummy
I'm having the exact same problem. My DS is 13 months old. He will only eat toast, bread sticks, cheese sticks, raisins and fromage frais. I have tried him with all sorts and he just refuses to eat. He too used to be okay but is hopeless now. The trouble is, I think he's hungry most of the time but even when starving he won't eat anything other than the above. I'm trying to be relaxed about it but I spend a fortune on things I think he might like only for it all to get rejected. Also, he just sits and screams in his highchair until I get him out.
Any tips also gratefully received!!

Hello babyissac- it is good to know I'm not alone- although not good for you! I can totally sympathise with the spending of money on different things to see if he'll eat them- usually its a No! I have been making homemade stuff but went of the idea when he kept rejecting all my hard work (I don't like cooking much at the best of times and my husband does most of it for us- lucky me).. I've tried various brands with limited success. He managed half a grape yesterday which was a miracle, but seems to struggle to spit stuff out like the skin, and gets stuck chewing it for ages! He also gets a bit frantic in the highchair- unstrapping him seems to help as he gets distracted by playing with the buckle clips. I try giving him rattles/teethers to also distract if I'm trying to feed him something he's not keen on, but everything just gets hurled on the floor these days!
