cooked a chicken in the slow cooker, how do I make soup from the lovely juices?

Yesterday I did a whole chicken for the first time and it was a great success. I now have all the juices including a few whole carrots & onion that I'd put under the chicken while it was cooking. The meat fell off the bone and so I put the juice including carrots/onion and a fair bit of meat into the fridge last night. So, I figure that I'm almost at the soup point already, but not sure what to do next. Do I add more veg etc or just heat up what I've got (will remove some fat, which has solidified in the fridge), does it have to simmer for ages, or what - am really not sure. Forgive me for being so dense, but what do I do?

Not sure about the soup but how did you cook the chicken, I'd like to try that in my slow cooker? How much liquid do you put in etc?

I'd throw in some more veg, add some water and cook until the veg are tender. Then yo can whizz up or leave for a more rustic soup.

If you've got plenty of veg in, chuck it in a pan and when warm taste it - add more water or stock as necessary.

You could also add some cream if you fancy!

More veg - leeks are nice. Maybe some lentils to thicken it. Blend.

sandyballs - I put a few whole carrots at the bottom, sliced an onion and put some inside the bird and the rest with the carrots, same again with some garlic. Put the chicken on top and added about an inch of water, salt and pepper on the bird and left it on low. It went in about lunchtime yesterday and we ate some last night about 8 -ish. There's loads left, somehow I feel I've got a lot more meat from it and it really does just lift from the bones.

I didn't brown it, so the skin looked a bit vile and I just chucked it, but I guess you could brown first.

Honestly try it, it's fab and if I can get the soup sussed I'll feel like a proper Mum.
