jerusalem artichokes - would this work?

I have 2 jerusalem artichokes that arrived with my box. Have never tasted them or cooked with them before.

Tonight I am making a kind of spicy casserole, chicken, potatoes, loads of root veggies.

I add a small amount of balti paste to give it a spicy edge, and then some stock.

Would it work if I just peeled/scrubbed and choppped the artichokes and added those too?

I think so. Ja's are similar to potatoes but have a slightly crisper texture and nutty taste. Can make you a bit windy though.

Thanks Prof for the advice.

There was a recipe that came with them (via our local box scheme) but it involved grinding pine nuts and other tedious things and I am quite lazy. I want to chuck it all in a pot and stir it occasionally whilst having a glass of wine!

this is a good one - stoved JAs (very butter-heavy though).

I grow them so have just finished chomping my way through a mountain of them. My fave is to chop them up quite small, dust them with seasoned flour and shallow fry. V nice.

Personally the only good tings I've found to do with jerusalem artichokes from my veg box are compost bin or freecycle

Grendle well I am tending to agree with you today tbh. (tmi alert coming up...)

I was sick straight after my dinner last night. NO idea why, but possibly I will always associate this vegetable with the fact I was ill straight after.
