hi, i'm fairly new and haven't really posted before but i was hoping all you wise mumsnetters can help me solve this

i need to find a dessert recipe for a friend who has recently been diagnosed with a condition which means she can't have any dairy, eggs, white carbs i.e. flour, or copious amounts of sugar - she can have natural sugars in fruit etc.
i'm trying to compile a recipe book for her because she is really down about the fact she cannot have anything she used to love and i'm REALLY stuck on desserts

thanks

pears or plums poached in red wine
you could try making a lemon posset with soya cream

Can she have oats?

If so you can do crumble with oats & alternative flours (spelt/rice/potato/there are others but it's late)

Lots of desserts with flour - there are substitutes

Milk can be replaced with soya

You might try posting in allergies - there are some real experts there

ducknineteen · 02/02/2009 23:20

ooh poached fruit, i hadn't thought of that thanks wolfcub

Katy, i hadn't thought of alternative flours, just stuck with wholemeal flour but i guess that'll give much more variety, i'll look in to it a bit more

Drizzle oranges and pomegranate with orange flower water.

Not exactly a recipe - more an arrangement.

Cies · 02/02/2009 23:27

Sorbet?

Can she have dark chocolate? If so, chocolate dipped fruit.

What about using egg replacer? You get it from health food shops. DS has food sensitivities with egg and I use that in baking.

I have a recipe for banana muffins (somewhere) its egg free has honey instead of sugar but does have flour in it - do u want me to dig it out?

Also recently had a flapjack that was only 50% oats - other 50% was cornflakes.

sorry dribbling!!

wickedwitchofwestlife · 02/02/2009 23:39

fruit compote
fruit jelly
fruit sorbet
what about rice? - rice pudding?

hellymelly · 02/02/2009 23:41

I make a really tasty crumble with plums/cherries/any other naturally sweet fruit at the bottom and a topping of rolled oats/vegan margarine/small amount of unrefined sugar or maple syrup/ground almonds.Serve it with soya cream.Honestly really nice and good if you want a pudding for children that's not too sugary too.

Ronaldinhio · 02/02/2009 23:41

baked apples with home made mince meat?

Ronaldinhio · 02/02/2009 23:44

decent mejool dates are very nice to finish off any dinner put some toasted almonds in for fancy

banana with splenda and rum

splenda is satan's work but I have many anti carb mates

wickedwitchofwestlife · 02/02/2009 23:44

oh yes baked apples good
poaches pears too!

Ronaldinhio · 02/02/2009 23:47

poached pears and champagne sorbet...very nice and tres simple

lots of things actually
you'd be surprised how many truly strange cook books are out there catering for almost anything now

can make almond sponge with splenda and egg substitute
soy custard makes it all the easier

Recently I had a friend around for dinner and we tried thealpo soya (dairy free range) has a creamy dessert, we tried it in vanilla flavour topped with sharon fruit segments and I made a little jus to go with it by mushing up some of the fruit and it was yummy.
